AKKUraatd doet verslag van de 132e GV

Tijdens de afgelopen Gezamenlijke Vergadering op maandag 11 februari was er slechts een korte vergaderagenda. Dat betekent niet dat er voor AKKUraatd niks relevants is besproken. Allereerst was de open brief van AKKUraatd aan het College van Bestuur besproken. In deze brief vraagt AKKUraatd het College om onderzoek te doen naar decentrale selecties aan de Radboud Universiteit. De aanleiding van deze brief is een artikel in ScienceGuide dat aangeeft dat decentrale selectie leidt tot de afname van diversiteit en toegankelijkheid. Het College reageerde dat zij geen nieuw onderzoek wil doen naar dit onderwerp. Wel zal het College van Bestuur met AKKUraatd in gesprek gaan over dit onderwerp.
Ten tweede heeft Wilma de Koning, vicevoorzitter van het College, aangegeven dat er naar aanleiding van de rondvraag van onder andere AKKUraatd een onderzoek wordt uitgevoerd om te kijken of er voortaan één soort koffiebeker in gebruik kan gaan worden gebruikt. Dit bevordert het recyclingproces. Ook zal het College ervoor zorgen dat er facilitering voor meer watertappunten is. AKKUraatd heeft met de USR een voorstel gedaan aan het Universitair Vastgoedbedrijf met daarin nieuwe plaatsen voor watertappunten. AKKUraatd wacht de reactie af en zal daarna snel met het College in gesprek gaan om deze punten zo snel mogelijk uit te bewerkstelligen. Het College hoopt zo de verkoop van het aantal plastic flesjes te verminderen.
Last Joint Assembly had a short agenda. Nonetheless, we have spoken about some relevant subjects for AKKUraatd. First up, the Open Letter to the Executive Board. In this letter, AKKUraatd asks the board to investigate the impact of decentralized selection on our university. The motive for this letter was an article in ScienceGuide that showed that decentralized selection has a negative impact on diversity and accessibility of higher education. The board said they are not willing to start a new investigation about this subject. AKKUraatd will be invited by the board to talk about this issue another time.
Second, Wilma de Koning, vice president of the Executive Board, said, in response to a question asked by AKKUraatd and the other members of the council, an investigation has started to see if it is possible to work with one type of coffee cup. This betters the recycling process. Also, the board will facilitate more water points on campus. In the student council AKKUraatd proposed a plan to the Department of Property Management to place these tap points. We are waiting on the response and will discuss it with the Executive Board. With this measure, the board hopes to reduce the quantity of plastic bottles on campus.
